Barry Griefer has many accomplishments and is the recipient of numerous awards. In 2005, in a year-long competition the ‘Greatest Grapplers on Earth’, Barry was rated #3 in the 40 year old Masters Division, at the age of 61. He was the 2008 ‘Battle of the Ages’ superfight Champion against an opponent 26 years of age. He is a 4-time inductee into the Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Barry has also received the lifetime achievement award ‘The World’s most Inspirational Grappler’ by Grappler’s Quest President Brian Cimins.
Although he has fought many tough opponents, no battle has been tougher than the one against his brain tumor. More than his awards and accomplishments, what Mr. Griefer cherishes most are the people that have supported him through those many tough years, particularly Kevin Mulhall, who considers Barry the ‘Father’ of the Jersey Fight Club. At the age of 67, Barry enjoys training jiu-jitsu under Instructor and friend Eddie Cruz.
